Zine of a person dreaming of achieving her goal of completing school assignments so she can graduate. She is climbing up a toothpick staircase, walking through a jungle of colorful toothpicks, riding in a hot air balloon with a toothpick basket, and climbing up a toothpick ladder through books. Her dream reality works in accordance to the her thoughts and actions as she works toward finding the end of the many dream ventures. The staircase or ladder loses pieces when she has a setback. Toothpicks form typography words along with standard text that is navigating the storyline. There are happy moments, distractions, and challenging moments, but in the end her endeavors will be a success. The staircase is made out of toothpicks to represent a fun metaphorical way of expressing how fragile and focused a person has to be in order to achieve goals in a timely manner. Toothpicks aren’t very sturdy, so the person climbing has to be engaged and attentive in order to avoid setbacks; even in a fun dreamworld.
My purpose of creating this Zine is to explore the intricate problem solving process that happens when a person is sleeping in a fun and whimsical way. Also, to create a relatable experience with college students who are juggling multiple aspects of their lives and bring lightness to this scenario.
